Chicago Personal Injury – Woman Impaled by Tree Branch Files Injury Lawsuit
June 6, 2011
Earlier this year, Helen Miller sustained a Chicago personal injury when a tree fell on her car during a storm. The tree which was owned by Vista Health Systems was located on their property. Miller alleges that Vista failed to properly maintain the tree and but for their negligence, the tree would not have fallen on her car causing her serious and permanent injuries.
Property owners in Illinois may be held responsible for Chicago personal injury occurring on their property and where the Chicago Injured can prove that the owner had notice of the dangerous conditions created by the tree.
Helen Miller was severely injured and put into a medically-induced coma after a branch crashed through her Smart car and pierced her abdomen.
In her suit, Miller contends that Vista Health System Surgery and Treatment Center was negligent in properly maintaining the tree, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Miller, who in 2009 survived a rare but often fatal heart condition, had planned to create an art sculpture from the limb, but has stopped working on that project because the branch may need to be submitted as evidence in court.
